Spider-Man: Brand New Day Box Office Poised to Oust “Titanic” from All-Time Top 5

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Peter Parker is on the verge of claiming the title of the “new king of the world”. The feature film Spider-Man: Brand New Day will soon push James Cameron’s historic classic Titanic out of the all-time top five highest-grossing films at the global box office.
Over the past weekend, Brand New Day pulled in an additional $39 million at the North American domestic box office and $70 million internationally, bringing its total to $854.9 million domestically and $2.22 billion worldwide.
These figures place the new Spider-Man entry just around $44 million shy of surpassing James Cameron’s 1997 Oscar-winning epic—a milestone Brand New Day is expected to comfortably eclipse within the coming week.
James Cameron’s 2009 masterpiece Avatar continues to stand at the top of the all-time box office chart with a staggering $2.9 billion worldwide (including re-releases).
In second place sits 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, which also features Tom Holland as Spider-Man and achieved $2.79 billion globally. Endgame is scheduled for a theatrical re-release on September 25, which will once again narrow its gap with Avatar for the top spot (Titanic’s overall total also includes $350 million earned from its 2012 3D re-release).
Holding third place is James Cameron’s 2022 sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, sitting at $2.33 billion.
Fourth place belongs to the 2025 Chinese animated fantasy adventure Ne Zha 2, which accumulated $2.27 billion globally.
Titanic ($2.26 billion) and the ascending Brand New Day ($2.22 billion) follow, while Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Avengers: Infinity War, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Zootopia 2 round out the top ten highest-grossing films in history.
With Brand New Day trailing Ne Zha 2 by roughly $50 million, the superhero blockbuster is poised to leap from sixth to fourth place on the all-time global leaderboard. Additionally, the film is closing in on Endgame’s domestic haul and will soon become the second highest-grossing film in North American box office history.
Previously, when Avengers: Endgame surpassed Titanic, James Cameron and his production company Lightstorm released a celebratory tribute image on social media depicting the Titanic ship being sunk by the Avengers logo, accompanied by the message: “A iceberg sank the real Titanic. It took the Avengers to sink my Titanic.” Cameron also congratulated Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige for proving that the movie industry is “alive and well.”
Similarly, George Lucas famously published a full-page congratulatory ad in trade papers when Titanic surpassed Star Wars, portraying Star Wars characters aboard a sinking ship.
Brand New Day once again led the box office chart last weekend, fending off new releases including Insidious: Beyond the Further and the Jason Statham action vehicle Mutiny.
